An incoming Central Regional Chairman, Mr Abraham Dwuma Odoom, a political luminary who has risen from apprenticeship to leadership, serving in different capacities as an Assemblyman, District Chief Executive, Member of Parliament and as a Minister of state in the elsewhile Kufour’s government and currently leading research polls puts him as the most credible personal to lead the Central Regional as Chairman has made a triumphant entry into Greater Kumasi for the National Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party flanked by his loyal supporters from the region.
Speaking to a cross section of the media, he welcomed all party faithfuls and extended his warm felicitations to all delegates across the country to the conference and wished everybody a successful conference.
He further entreated everyone to operate within the armbit of the rules and regulations governing the conference and stay out of acts of holiganism and violence that has the tendency of bringing the image of the party into disrepute. He advised those gathered to respect the directives by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
However, he hastened to say that any individual who hides behind the directives to perpetuate any form of violence and holiganism by indiscriminately destroying properties belonging to other interested party members which are out of the precinct of the conference should be dealt with accordingly without fear or favour.
Speaking to his chances in the regional election slated for April 2022, he stated clearly without any equivocation and I quote, “I won’t be compliment because this is politics, but I have listened to the voice for change in the region and have consulted far and wide, and I am very clear on my mind that Central Region will work again under my leadership as the Chairman and with the full support of the grassroot who are the King Makers, I fervently believe they won’t disappoint me because I am one of them” He added, “I have what it takes to turn things round, because I am well connected to them and have a message that is action driven and results oriented”.
He explained that one cardinal focus of his message is to reconcile the leadership front, build bridges and ensures peace prevails to set the tone for one united Central. He said, “As a matter of importance, we have conscientiously drawn a road map that will bring peaceful resolution to any impasse that has stall the progress of the party in the region, unite all disgruntled members, resolve our differences indoor and adopt an accommodating system that will embrace everybody and deepen our internal democracy and put our party on the path of victory in 2024”.
When they asked him his motivation to contest for the chairmanship position, he smiled and posited that, “When I see the need, I take the lead, demonstrate resilience and show leadership. I have an orientation of can do spirit, pushing to the limit and achieving the desired results. My quest to lead is born out of a mission to rescue the hopeless state of the region, restore hope and reverse the trend by reclaiming our lost seats with an agenda to do things differently, he concluded.
