Fish is widely consumed all over the world because of its rich in minerals and vitamins and has less fat making it easier for digestion. Fish head has been some African delicacy while most of the western world doesn’t eat the fish head.
But what is so special about the fish head that makes people like it. Some people find fish heads to be delicious even more than the main flesh. There is several mix interpretation of the taste of the fish head from those who eat it.
On Neat Fm in Accra, Dietician Nana Kofi took his time to explain foods that cause Gastroenteritis in other term diarrhea nausea, vomiting, fever, etc, and the fish head was one of them especially tilapia. Upon his explanations, he revealed four main causes of gastroenteritis which are beans, wakye, pepper and the last is fish head.
He explained feather that most of the fish waste is in its head especially the gills. The fish breaths from its gills, therefore, the gills serve as a filter so eating the fish head is equally consuming its waste.
He pointed out most of his analysis on the tilapia head especially the grilled tilapia. The heat usually doesn’t get to the gills well, therefore, making it sustaining micro orgasms that cause various gastroenteritis diseases he says.
In conclusion, he encourages everyone to eat fish but also advises the general public to avoid eating fish heads especially grilled tilapia heads or any other animal’s heads because of its high level of dangerous infectious diseases they might carry.
