Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, GMA, Dr. Titus Beyuo said that the rise in deaths should be expected.
This, he said was due to the low vaccination rate and the public neglect of the covid-19 safety protocols.
He noted that such predictions did not make doctors prophets of doom adding that it is based on scientific evidence.
National Chairman of the Coalition of NGOs in Health, Bright Amissah-Nyarko called for the ban on social gatherings to be brought back as a means of controlling the rising number of deaths.
Mr. Amissah-Nyarko said the Coalition was monitoring the situation in Achimota school where several students have recorded the highly transmissible Delta variant of covid-19 as well as other schools and would recommend the closure of all schools in the country if the situation worsens.
